Paula at the Medalta International Artists in Residence Program

Historic Medalta Potteries

Paula just finished up her July residency with the Medalta International Artists in Residence Program, at the historic Medalta Potteries Site in Medicine Hat, Alberta (www.medalta.org.)  She joined eight other ceramic artists, from various locales including Utah, Virginia, New York, and Ontario to share ideas, experiences and techniques.  The days were long but full of energy, conversation and laughter. Many pieces were created and ranged from the functional to the sculptural, from the pedestal to installation, from tiny to life size. Paula spent her days experimenting with atmospheric firings such as soda, salt and wood, trying new clay bodies and surface treatments, and beginning some new sculptural work.  She finished her residency tired but with a head full of ideas and she is excited to see what work evolves out of this great experience!

Jim Korpan at his Northern Studio

Every year late in May we seem to lose Jim to his cabin and outdoor studio at Lac La Ronge. We have often questioned if he really does anything other than fish and read books on the dock. This latest group of photographs seems to prove us wrong.

M. Craig Campbell with Infrastructure

Infrastructure is commentary on the ailing and failing of human-made infrastructure. Our water, sewer, electrical, roadway, railway, buildings and more are aging and decaying. They are in need of near constant repair and much of it has past its “best before” date waiting for repair, replacement or demolition. Infrastructure is the first in a series of four pieces to date, each one larger and further evolved than its predecessor.

Photographs of Daryl Richardson's recent work

Often times our work gets made just in time for an opening and we haven't had time to photograph them. This was the case with Daryl at the Spring Open House. The "Pods" are still available copper, with patina, and 23 carat gold leaf, on steel thorns. Sold
